– About Your Session –

How do I book a photo session with you?

It is best to book your session several weeks in advance to ensure your desired date is available.  You can email me at bdrosos33@gmail.com or use the contact form at the top of this page.  Then we will decide on a time and location for your session together.  Your session date is reserved after a 30% deposit invoice is paid, and I will also send you a portrait contract to be signed and electronically returned before we meet.

Where will our photo session take place?

I am an on-location photographer.  This means that with the exception of newborns, I prefer to shoot our session at an agreed upon outdoor location.  I will have a list to provide and choose from if you don’t have a location in mind. The best light for portrait photography is typically in the early evening (about 1-2 hours before sunset).  Newborn photo sessions take place in the comfort of your own home, usually mid-morning.

What should I expect at our session?

Portrait sessions are 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours for newborn sessions.  After we meet at our location, we will take some time to chat so I can get to know everyone better.  We will walk around the location during the shoot while I capture both posed photos and the natural, candid interactions.  Our session will be fun and relaxed because I want to capture those precious unscripted moments as much as the planned ones.

What do I/we wear or bring?

What you choose to wear to your photography session makes such a huge impact on your images!  Coordinating outfits (not matching!) full of texture and layers – think vests, scarves, jackets, jewelry, and headbands – photograph beautifully and will help you achieve a polished look.  Avoid any clothing with name brands, pictures, or words on them.  These detract from your family and give the photographs a dated look.  It is also best to avoid a lot of black combos, and remember that fun splashes of color will help your pictures pop. Whites and light pinks are fine. You are also welcome to bring any props you may want to be included in the photos.

How can I prepare my child for the session?

I love photographing children!  I especially love to capture children’s natural expressions instead of forced poses.  This means I fully expect to chase after your child, lie down on the ground to get the perfect shot, and to come prepared with silly jokes and faces!  Before your session, make sure your child is well-rested and fed.  It is often helpful to bring something to eat and drink in case your child needs a break as well.  Most of all, remember that children can sense your stress level so don’t worry!  My years of being a mom have shown me plenty of tantrums and tears and I don’t get stressed one bit.  I have many tricks up my sleeve to turn things around.  However, if you have a special treat in mind, please bring it along!

What happens after our session?

I will go through the photos and pick out the ones that came out good (not blurry, doubles, over/under exposed beyond repair) within a few days to one week. Then I will send you a link to view them in an online private gallery that will be up for 30 days. You will then pick the 20 images that you want included in your package. You may pick more for an additional cost of $20 per image. Once they are picked, I will artistically edit the photos, in both color and/or black and white, and upload them back into your private online gallery 2-3 weeks after the session. You can then download them right away.

What other printing services do you offer?

Pretty much anything! Cards, prints, invitations, canvas prints, albums and much more. I can email you a brochure ahead of time or we can meet after your session and I can go through each with pricing.
