This was my last wedding of the year and it was so relaxing and sweet! It was my first time shooting a D.C. wedding solo but it wasn’t a big wedding so I knew I was fine. The Phoenix Park Hotel had just gone through renovations and I believe this was the first wedding that they had in the new ballroom. The hotel staff was great, the couple was amazing and so was their families. It was a smooth easy wedding and a perfect way to end my wedding season!
I met Colin and Elizabeth the beginning of this year. They are so sweet and wanted a simple D.C. wedding with a little bit of something non traditional which is that they walked down the aisle together in the beginning. I did not have an opportunity to work with them before their wedding but they we such natural posers when I photographed them on their wedding day. These two are such love birds and you can just see in the photos how important they are to each other.
On their wedding day in November, the day was cool and mostly cloudy. I arrived at the hotel and it was quiet in the suite where Elizabeth was. Soon after I arrived they did the first look. It was just me and them so it was very intimate. Then we hopped in a limo and went to the Grant Memorial and the U.S. Capitol. After doing their portraits, we went back to the hotel for a little bit before going to the church down the road. The St. Aloysius Church was so beautiful and big with the cathedral high ceilings and lots of artistic detail. After the ceremony, we headed back to the hotel for some fun dancing before the night was over. What a wonderful day it had been! Congrats to Colin and Elizabeth and thank you for choosing me to be a part of it!
